1999 - the year I visited USA for the first time. I stayed with a family in Dallas for ten days because the my soccer team was a part of a tournament. It was the first time I was away from my family and the comfortable life in my hometown. The impressions I got from my visit in USA is something I never forget - specially one thing impressed me, the size of everything! The burgers, the highways, the buildings and the people, everything was huge to a small town boy like me.
Since then, I have visited USA several times, New York the latest two years ago...
I´ve had many travel experiences around the world since 1999, but every time I go to USA, it brings back the memories from my time in Dallas. I have therefore decided to pay another visit to the country that gave me my first, real travel experience as the destination for a trip I will consider an adventure and a travel experience for life.
I want to see if everything in USA really is this big or if I was just a little boy back then, I want to see if every man in Utah has two wives, I want to see whether all white rednecks in the Midwest votes for Romney, I want to see whether the black population only eat chicken - I want to discover America! and I want to tell you the truth about this great country and its diverse population when it has told me all its stories and hence painted the picture without the prejudices and biased approaches.
In order to discover America and find the truth about the country, I believe that riding my bicycle will make me able to see the places, meet the people and experience the various events. A journey of approximately 5.800 kilometers will be covered in 3 months, starting in Los Angeles 25th February 2012 and, via the longest continuous American highway, Route 6, ending in Boston 24th May 2013.
This journey will take me through the states of California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, New York, Connecticut, Rhode Island and Massachusetts.
